To support our strategic ambitions and our approach to sustainability, we continue to put the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda at the heart of our financial decision-making. We ensure these three factors are integrated into the overall assessment of any investment we make.
As active members of our communities we engage with as many stakeholders across society as practical.
Linton Farms partnership was created in 2018 with the purchase of four individual farm holdings totalling 2000 acres. The farms are immediately adjacent to Linton House which is the family home of the Ferguson family.
In 2021, the partnership acquired a further 800 acres with a view to increasing the arable capacity as well as growing the forestry interests of the estate.
The 2800 acres is currently split between 2500 acres of arable, growing mainly barley, wheat and oil seed rape and 300 acres forestry. Additional acreage will be acquired to expand the planting and reforestation programme. This will allow us to offset carbon created by the farm and the other businesses within the portfolio and to play our part in the environmental challenge that currently faces the world.
